Adama’s parents suffered from the disease and eventually died from it.  Adama’s care-giver is a family friend, who is a single teacher.  Adama attends school at the Bo Commercial Junior Secondary School.  She needs help and care to help her become self-reliant in the future.

They have eight children to take care of in addition to Gbessay, so there is a lack of care and attention given to him.
